Which Retiree...?

Which retiree has a donkey cart collection and also made the quilt shown below??
Probably most of you know the answer...
Stay tuned for the answer!!!

Lunch at the Hill Top

Many of you attended
the Thursday Morning Musical's
Luncheon at the Hill Top
with performances by the scholarship winners.
We enjoyed these beautiful views of Elmira.

Another Shot of the Singing Retirees

We had a great time at the Legion.
One member of the audience told me she had tears in her eyes throughout the performance.
That's really an ultimate compliment.
We had hoped to hit on some songs that would have sentimental value to the audience.

Wallace Stevens

I
Among twenty snowy mountains,
The only moving thing
Was the eye of the blackbird.

II
I was of three minds,
Like a tree
In which there are three blackbirds.

III
The blackbird whirled in the autumn winds.
It was a small part of the pantomime.

IV
A man and a woman
Are one.
A man and a woman and a blackbird
Are one.

V
I do not know which to prefer,
The beauty of inflections
Or the beauty of innuendoes,
The blackbird whistling
Or just after.

VI
Icicles filled the long window
With barbaric glass.
The shadow of the blackbird
Crossed it, to and fro.
The mood
Traced in the shadow
An indecipherable cause.

VII
O thin men of Haddam,
Why do you imagine golden birds?
Do you not see how the blackbird
Walks around the feet
Of the women about you?

VIII
I know noble accents
And lucid, inescapable rhythms;
But I know, too,
That the blackbird is involved
In what I know.

IX
When the blackbird flew out of sight,
It marked the edge
Of one of many circles.

X
At the sight of blackbirds
Flying in a green light,
Even the bawds of euphony
Would cry out sharply.

XI
He rode over Connecticut
In a glass coach.
Once, a fear pierced him,
In that he mistook
The shadow of his equipage
For blackbirds.

XII
The river is moving.
The blackbird must be flying.

XIII
It was evening all afternoon.
It was snowing
And it was going to snow.
The blackbird sat
In the cedar-limbs.

Naomi's Battle Against Melanoma

I'm hoping that none of you will mind that I'm sharing this. The daughter of a close college friend of mine has stage 4 bone and lung cancer that they believe originated as melanoma. This beautiful young lady lives in Jacksonville Florida and has a husband and 2 year old son. They are raising money to help her fight this... I'm posting this with the hopes that a few of you out there might have the means and be inspired to contribute some amount financially to her cause.... At the very least some of you may want to say prayer on behalf of her and her family. Her local news posted this segment.. http://www.news4jax.com/video/19401362/ on the 10:00 News on May8th. Those that would like to read about Naomi or read how to contribute financially to help her battle against this devastating disease can visit her site at http://fornaomi.com/
